A MOH speech should probably last 1-2 minutes. Some things I would include:
-Say something special about your relationship with her. I agree, a light funny memory from your childhood would be nice.
-Mention something about the relationship between her and her hubby-to-be. For example, how you knew he was the one for her when….or you knew she had found someone special when…
-Mention how much you love her and are so happy for her on this day, etc.
To avoid?
-Anything about the couple’s sex life (known, presumed, or predicted)
-Anything about any of your sister’s exes (we’re supposed to be talking about the happy future, not focusing on the unpleasant past)
-Be careful of any jokes at your sister’s expense that may seem funny, but she might take offense to (remember Rachel McAdams’s original speech in “Wedding Crashers?” Yeah…avoid that type at all costs)
I believe TheKnot.com has some guidelines for making speeches. They may be listed under “Best Man” speeches, but I don’t see how those couldn’t apply to MOH speeches as well.
Good luck with everything!
