i wouldnt asume wearing gloves is cleaner than washed hands because if the gloves have been dropped on the floor when the gloves were made, do you really think the gloves would be binned? i dont think so do you?

@hardcorehellforce No i understand that people can believe its cleaner, and i dont have any dispute that other countrys may feel that way, But for me, i dont see the point, what about other things that could cause a contamination? , dont they count just as much as hands? There is no need for insults, i was only giving my opinion, it may not count for much in your eyes and thats fair enough , but theres no need to get mean.

@xdevilxbabex2003 its cleaner, and in alot countrys you have to wear it.not everyone likes to have hands from a stranger on their food, god also gave me a common sense, why dont use that aswell?
May 16, 2010
@hardcorehellforce Why not use the gifts god gave you? As long as your hands are washed and clean, there should be no issue. I have no belief that by wearing gloves, it would make the cake last ‘longer’ , against not using them.
May 16, 2010
@xdevilxbabex2003 well its not really clean to touch everything with your hands.even when washed.we always use gloves(regulations),and yes it stays longer fresh.

@MsKimmova Black and white is a really popular colour scheme for weddings now, and fruit cake is extreemly dence and rich, its only meant to be served in small slices, The combonation of the sweet icing, nutty marzipan and dark fruit, works well, because of the strength of the cake itself, the icing doesnt over power it.
May 16, 2010
@mediate27 i dont think so, i do these cakes all the time and never had any ‘contamination’

I’ve always wondered…. wouldn’t it be better if you wore gloves to roll out marzipan/fondant/whatever? You’d think the salt and oil from your hands would taint the flavor, even if you washed them first.

the british are so enthusiastic.
and wouldnt that be considered a funeral cake w/ its colour code? w/ all the flavours shes puttin in it all that sweet is sure to kill
May 16, 2010
Strange way of icing. One layer of marzipan is enough sweetness and taste!

@RVSINUK i think premixed fondant tastes like sweet lard. its disgusting..nothing like bubblegum imo. i prefer homemade mellow fondant..its sooooooooooooo good lol

@sansaviera i would imagine she washed her hands prior to deocrating the cake.
May 16, 2010
Well, don’t know how to hold a rowling pin but she looks professional enough to learn from. it looks good .
May 16, 2010
@RVSINUK I have never had them all together to the thought of it is “weird” to me. Yes mixing all those flavors together…marzipan, fruit, jam, fondant…is foreign to me. I didn’t say that I like mass produced factory based “materials”. I actually make my own homemade cakes and do not use “boxed” cakes. So don’t jump to conclusions on me being your “typical American”. I’m referencing the “American” this and “American” that comments that you so easily throw out there as degrading.
May 16, 2010
@himenohimitsudesu Seriously professional I would say
May 16, 2010
@Suganspice512 You said, and I quote “It has got to taste weird” – you simply have no idea what it will taste like. You immediately assumed because it is not made using mass produced factory based materials that it will be ‘weird’. This gives the impression that you have NEVER tried anything other than ‘batter mix’ cakes covered in gooey ‘bubble gum’ fondant – sorry, not being degrading, just telling it how it looks.
May 16, 2010
@kvaia No! – fondant you buy ready mixed is chewy and tastes like bubblegum!
