By admin On February 3, 2010 Under Wedding Speech

I am the bride and didnt make a speech at our engagement party so have been told i should make a speech at the wedding. So i am. The problem i have is that i am a perfectionist and have problems writing things. Can someone please give me some inspiration on how to re lay stories or jokes? Examples of speeches would be GREAT!!!

There is absolutely no reason you have to give a speech.

No one can write your speech from you. Call it a toast if you decide to give one, it sounds less stressful.

Focus on why you’ve decided to marry your fiance. Discuss. Raise your glass. Drink. Sit back down.

Bride Wedding Speech or Toast

Good Evening…or Good Evening Everyone …
(or any suitable greeting you may wish to use, Trish)

On behalf of Steven and myself I would like to thank you all for joining us today as we celebrate our marriage. I know that some of you have traveled many miles to be here – thank you. We are honored to have you with us.

(or, Steven and I sincerely appreciate what you have done.)
(or, Steven and I sincerely appreciate your efforts.)

As I look around me, I am reminded of the importance of family and friends… Steven and I are truly blessed in having all of you with us today to share in this joyous occasion – to witness our union and the coming together of our two families…
thank you all for your support and your love.

(or, thank you all for your friendship and your support)
(or, thank you all for your friendship and your love)

……….

I do believe that in many ways Steven and I have been moving towards each other all of our lives – we simply took a rather circuitous route…
(or, indirect route)

You see, Steven and I have actually known each other since 8th Grade…

I had just moved from California and we attended the same school…
There was definitely something going on between us – after all, we did date each other for three full weeks – to this day, I’m not exactly sure what that dating actually consisted of – 8th Grade seems like a lifetime ago now…
And, I’m certain that our children would agree that 8th Grade DEFINITELY WAS a lifetime ago!

……….

I know that I have been blessed in the fact that our paths have been brought together once again…

(Look towards Steven,Trish)
Steven, you are a strong, gentle presence in my life – always reaching for my hand, providing me with support in so many ways…

Good luck

I’m a perfectionist too. I would start out with being completely strait with everyone. Tell them you had or have no idea what to say. Everyone will be expecting you to say something about your new hubby so whatever comes to mind, your favorite moment, how you knew he’s the one, why you fell for him. Don’t forget to thank everyone. Everyone who helped you with the wedding preparations yadda, yadda.

Hope this helped.

you can start with this line….

“Hello everyone, thank you all for coming, and for your good wishes.

Wow.. I am now officially married. On one hand, the time has gone by so quickly, and I’m not sure where it’s all gone.. On the other, I never, ever thought this day would get here. Anyone else who’s ever planned a wedding can probably relate.. You just want to get everything over with, so you can stop worrying about the flowers and music, and who’s going to be sitting where, and go on a vacation!! ….and
Blah blah blah……….blah blah blah…………

then you can end your speech by saying…

Thank you all for sharing our joy today! I hope you enjoy it!

Make a toast instead of a speech. That way you can feel less stressful.

I wouldn’t make a speech at the wedding, it’s not the bride’s job!
Say a little something at your rehearsal dinner if you are having one, nothing major though, impromptu would be fine.
