Can anyone give me pointers on how to create a Maid of Honor speech?

I found a great poem that really clicked with my sister and husband as a couple but as individuals. I based my speech around similar things in the poem and had this whole thing prepared but when it came down to the wire…I was so nervous and happy I was in tears and so I only said a few of the things, how happy I was about them finding one another and welcoming her husband to the family and then read the poem before bawling my eyes out! LOL I had everything written out on little notecards too. Just relax, write down stuff that sounds like it’s actually coming from you…throw in a poem or something and then a congrats and love you guys, wish you the best, blah blah blah. And before you know it, it’s over with and everyone is clapping! Best of luck…hope this helped somewhat!

You are sisters, so you have shared your lives in a lot of ways. This is her wedding day – to be asked to be Matron of Honor is indeed an Honor. Star by thanking her for this invitation, to be part of the most important day of her life. You can then add a couple of comments about the things about her that you are going to miss once she is married, and will not be around you quite as much. Acknowledge, and accept her husband as your new Brother-in-law. Once you get started, you will think of a lot more i am sure. Relax, remember why you are so lucky to have a sister like this, and enjoy the day.

The maid of honor has to make a speech?!?!
I told mine she didn’t have to cause only the best man makes a speech, yikes.

Instead of making a speech (I have a fear of public speaking too) why not make a video collage of your sister growing up (narrate the video yourself). This way you can tell your sister how you feel about her and she will have something she can treasure (instead of just a few words.).
