Anyone ever made a maid-of-honor speech?

Since the bride is the star, you need to prepare well and focus on the good personality of the bride.

However, since there will be lots of other speeches, keep it fairly short.
Have a small prompt card for each point you want to make. Time yourself alone at home to make sure that you say everything that should be said, but don’t go on for too long.

Talk about some experience you had with the bride and make it funny!

Practice it in front of your friends (especially her closest friends) and get some tips and insight on how you can make it better.

Then, once you get the funny story out of the way, talk about how she found Mr. Right and what a good, wonderful person she is.

Example:

“Heidi is such an amazing friend. I remember one time we walked all around New York because we couldn’t find where we were going. We got lost more than I can possibly remember and we couldn’t find a cab at all. It was late and we were beginning to panic. As we were walking, Heidi broke her shoe and pulled me along with her and we both fell in a mud puddle. Our outfits were ruined. We started to walk around, in muddy wet clothes and then we saw each other under a street lamp and started to laugh at each other because we looked so horrible. Even though we got lost and started to panic, it didn’t matter because we had each other and the fun we had that night searching for a ride home is one of the many moments I’ll remember with Heidi. Now, we are here for Heidi because she found Mr. RIght and Mr. Right found our precious Heidi. Mr. Right, Heidi is a selfless, givining person and her charm and wit are sure to make you smile and laugh every time your in her presence…just be sure you don’t get lost with her because it may lead to falling into a mud puddle! -laughs- You two are a beautiful couple and I know you’ll do many great things. Here’s to Heidi and Mr. Right!”
